Vail athlete Hunter Schleper has inverted himself on a wakeboard and raced down a bulletproof sheet of ice on skis, but the biggest injury of his career came from the family dog.
Ranked the No. 1 junior skier in the world just two short years ago, Schleper has had problems with the patella tendon in his knee that started three summers ago when the family dog knocked him over while playing in the backyard. After the incident he under- went two knee surgeries, but he was still troubled with pain.
Currently, the US Ski Team development squad member is recovering from his third knee surgery, this time from Dr. Pe- ter Millett of The Steadman Clinic.
