Dr. Peter Millett is an orthopaedic surgeon and partner at the internationally renowned Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Consistently selected as one of the “Best Doctors in America,” Dr. Millett specializes in disorders of the shoulder, knee, and elbow as well as all sports-related injuries. Susan Sabido is Dr. Millett’s Practice Director. She has a diverse background in medical practice management and is passionate about ensuring that each patient under Dr. Millett’s care is treated with the highest level of customer service. Originally from South Africa, Susan has traveled the world and brings her experiences to the office of Dr. Millett where she believes “these worldly experiences make all of us more compassionate and tolerant toward individuals with different outlooks on this world.” She is excited to assist Dr. Millett and his patients with compassionate and service-oriented care for their orthopedic injuries and conditions.
Brian joins Dr. Millett’s team with over twenty years of orthopaedic experience. Brian started his medical journey as a paramedic in Southern California for five years while completing his undergraduate work. Later, Brian pursued the Physician’s Assistant Program at Western University where he graduated as a PA-C in 1992. Seventeen years ago Brian relocated to the Vail Valley where he has gained the majority of his experience. Brian stays active in the community, volunteering his time with disabled children at Round Up River Ranch and helping Disabled Veterans. Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and twins. His interests include sailing, fly fishing, and horseback riding.
An Iowa native, Carolyn Chamness moved to Colorado Springs to attend college and obtain her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. It was her love for the mountains that led her to Vail where she initially worked as a mountain photographer. In 2006, Carolyn joined Dr. Millett’s team as his medical assistant and scheduling coordinator. During this time, she realized that her true calling was to become an orthopedic PA. In 2008, Carolyn resigned her position with Dr. Millett and completed her PA studies and Masters in Clinical Health at MEDEX NW at the University of Washington Medical School. After graduation, Carolyn and her husband moved back to Vail so she could re-join Dr. Millett’s team in her new role. In her free time, Carolyn loves cooking, hiking, skiing, floating the Colorado River, and enjoying all that beautiful Vail has to offer.
Elizabeth O’Neil, raised in Vail, CO, serves as Dr. Millett’s surgical scheduler. Having been in the healthcare industry for a number of years, Elizabeth joined Dr. Millett’s practice with a diverse background, applying her extensive experience as a patient care coordinator to assist Dr. Millett with varying patient and practice needs. Her background encompasses clinic duties, patient care, and practice operations on all levels. As a skilled asset to Dr. Millett’s team, she is eager to assist patients in their quest to become pain-free. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time in the Vail Valley partaking in skiing, hiking, and spending time with her family.
Joe Cygan joined Dr. Millett’s team as an athletic trainer after spending two years as a Musculoskeletal Specialist for Sonosite Ultrasound. Prior to that, he spent 6 years as an Athletic Trainer for the United States Olympic Committee. He completed his undergraduate studies at Quincy University, his masters degree in Exercise and Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Sports Psychology at Murray State University. Joe was a One Year Fellow Athletic Trainer for the United States Olympic Committee in 2002-03. He also has experience with extreme sports after working several X-Games. Born in Fairview Heights, IL., Joe helps coordinate Dr. Millett’s clinic as well as community outreach. He loves to hike and explore the outdoors.
Micum McIntire is an athletic trainer from New Hampshire who came to work for Dr. Millett following extensive training in sports medicine. He received his Bachelors in Athletic Training from the University of Vermont, and his Masters in Athletic Training from Ohio University. He then completed his Shoulder, Knee, Hip, and Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Steadman Clinic in 2010. He has spent the last several years working in a variety of settings including athletic training and sports medicine support for high school and college athletics, professional sports, and orthopedic clinics. He recently returned to Vail where he is excited to work with Dr. Millett and patients from around the country. Micum is a seasoned ski racer and a competitive sailor. When he is not assisting patients in the clinic he is either on the mountain in the back bowls of Vail, or out on the Dillon Reservoir sailing with friends.
Dirk Kokmeyer directs the rehab team that works intimately with Dr. Millett’s patients. Dirk graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Hogelschool van Utrecht School for Physical Therapy in the Netherlands. A native of Falmouth, Massachusetts, he began work with the Howard Head Sports Medicine Centers in Vail, Colorado in 2000. He received his Orthopedic Manual Therapy Certification (COMT) in 2005 and his Sport Certified Specialist (SCS) certification in 2006. He was promoted to lead physical therapist for Dr. Millett in 2005 and then was selected to run the Denver Howard Head Clinic in 2008. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and specializes in sports medicine, manual therapy, manipulation and rehabilitation of knee and shoulder injuries.
