Dr. Peter J. Millett and his international research team have been awarded the Excellence in Research Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine for their manuscript, "Development and Validation of The BRACE (Bankart Risk Assessment & Clinical Estimator) Score, An International Multicenter Study."

The award, presented by the AOSSM Research Committee under the leadership of Chair Volker Musahl, recognizes outstanding contributions to advancing evidence-based sports medicine. The team's work introduces the BRACE Score, a clinically driven tool designed to improve risk assessment and decision-making for patients undergoing treatment for shoulder instability, including Bankart lesions.

"This recognition reflects the strength of collaboration across our entire research group," said Dr. Millett. "This was a true multicenter effort, and I'm incredibly grateful for the dedication and expertise of our colleagues worldwide. We're excited to continue building on this work and advancing care for patients with shoulder instability."

Developed through a large international multicenter study, the BRACE Score represents a significant advancement in personalized orthopedic care. By combining rigorous validation with real-world clinical data, the tool helps surgeons better assess risk, guide treatment strategies, and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Millett and his research team remain committed to advancing innovation in shoulder surgery and sports medicine through collaborative, evidence-based research that directly impacts patient care.
