Dr. Peter Millett was recognized as a co-founder and co-inventor behind an award-winning orthopedic innovation as Joint Preservation Innovations, LLC received the 2026 Lightbulb Award during the Innovation Battle at the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) Annual Meeting in Phoenix.
The company earned recognition for the Articulator™ Arthroscopic Bur, the first and only FDA-cleared articulating rotary cutting instrument developed for arthroscopic bone resection. The technology received FDA 510(k) clearance in December 2025 following its earlier Breakthrough Device Designation in 2023.
Designed to improve access, precision, and control within constrained joint spaces, the device represents an important advancement in arthroscopic surgery and joint preservation techniques. By expanding what can be accomplished through minimally invasive procedures, innovations like this continue to redefine surgical possibilities.
As a co-founder of Joint Preservation Innovations and co-inventor of the Articulator™ Arthroscopic Bur, Dr. Millett played a key role in the development of the technology. The recognition adds to a long history of innovation throughout his career, which includes more than 100 patents and over 100 medical devices currently used by physicians and patients worldwide.
